2026 – Pennings & Sons celebrates 50 years in business.
2025 – Scott Pennings becomes sole owner.
2023 – Brian goes part-time as L&D Manager Brian de & Building an enduring legacy moto.
2020 – Remote working gains popularity.
2020 – Sue retires.
2017 – Based on continued demand for our services, Pennings Handyman hires its 10th employee.
2014 – Major Expansion of Offices happens to update and make way for continued growth.
2013 – Pennings Accessible Living is launched to provide construction services for what we believe is an underserved market.
2012 – Pennings Project Pro is rebranded to become Pennings Handyman and the new Division starts to gain momentum.
2011 – Scott Pennings becomes part-owner of Pennings & Sons.
2009 – The company restructures and is rebranded: the company name is shortened to “Pennings & Sons” and “Building Character into Homes” becomes the new tagline.
2006-2007 – Bruce retires from ownership. Judie retires from reception. Margaret retires from her bookkeeper position.
2004 – The company expands to include a handyman service called “Pennings Project Pro” to help homeowners repair and maintain their homes.
2000s – Scott, Ken, and Tami (all third generation Pennings) continue on with Brad, Brian, and other dedicated employees to help Pennings & Sons continue to grow and move forward.
2000 – Wilbur passes away, leaving his legacy to continue on through his sons.
1998 – New office and warehouse built in west Kalamazoo.
1996 – Wilbur goes into partial retirement.
1980s – Many new employees are hired and the company continues to grow.
1980s – Staying current with equipment has always been an integral part of the company.
1980s – Company grows and primarily functions as a framing subcontractor.
1978 – Keith, the first non-family member joins the company.
1977 – Brian follows his brothers and joins the company now known as “W. Pennings & Sons, Inc.”
1976 – Brad joined his brother and father.
1973 – Wilbur and son, Bruce, begin company “Wilbur Pennings, Builder.”
