W. Pennings & Sons, Inc. is celebrating 50 years in business this year! Since incorporating in Michigan in 1976, the company has grown from 4 owners providing sub-contracted framing and carpentry labor, into a multifaceted full range residential construction company comprised of Pennings & Sons and Pennings Handyman employing an average 45 great employees tuned in to our core values of: honesty and integrity, a commitment to client satisfaction, respectfulness, positive perspective, and efficiency and productivity.

On Monday, September 22, Pennings & Sons, in partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), hosted our third annual Build-A-Bed Day. This event brought together our entire company with a goal of constructing 50 beds for children in the Kalamazoo area who do not have a bed of their own. The day was filled with teamwork, dedication, and a shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of local families.

“Good things come to those who wait.” You’ve heard that proverb before. In fact, if you paid any attention to advertising in the 80’s you may recall Heinz Ketchup using that phrase to add value to the time it took for ketchup to pour out of a glass bottle. Of course, today we have plastic squeeze bottles to accelerate that wait time, but not so in construction! Yes, there may be full size 3d printers, but at this writing they’re still out of reach for most of our society when it comes to building or remodeling a home.

We had an amazing day on 9/23/2021! Together with Sleep in Heavenly Peace – MI, Plainwell we were able to meet our goal of building 30 beds! 8 were even delivered that SAME DAY to help local children that were not sleeping in a bed!  It was a great cause that also enabled our employees to get out of our everyday routine.  Office and field staff working together, bonding, & having fun!
